March Break in Cape Breton

We're halfway through our March Break vacation in Cape Breton and we've had a few outings so far.  One of the more notable ones was seeing a calf being born at a neighbour's farm.  Rebecca and Abby had a few questions about it, so it was an early biology lesson for them (and me!).  This lesson of course included a discussion about 'good blood' and 'bad blood'.  Abby was proud to say to anyone she saw after, 'We saw a baby cow being born! And there was good blood!'

We also visited another neighbour's barn to watch the sheep and horse receiving their morning breakfast.  Rebecca and Abby spent time feeding peppermints to the horse and hay to the many sheep.

Later, we took a trip to Inverness Beach for some exploring of the pack ice which had blown up on the shore.  Whether it is winter, spring or summer, the girls are always looking for beach glass.  We did find lots of beach glass too!

The pack ice made for an interesting backdrop to our beach exploring.

Rebecca and Abby spent time climbing the ice and Rebecca even ffound some skipping rocks that were free for throwing.

Here we are, enjoying the warm (not) beach weather in March in Cape Breton!

Rebecca decided to make some sand angels with Sheena looking on.
