First week of ‘Big’ School

Wednesday last week was Rebecca's first day at 'Big' School.  We had been having a literal countdown for two weeks prior to school starting.  "Dad, how many days until big school?" Was a usual question during that time.  So, after all the preparation, clothes buying, backpack and supplies and the important lunch bag, Rebecca was ready for her first school bus ride.  Sheena, Abby and Mommy braved a downpour (thanks TS Issac) and they waited for the school bus.  When the bus came, Rebecca ran inside so fast that she didn't even say goodbye to Mom or her sister — and was so excited to go!  Sheena tried to take a picture, but it was just a blur!

Wednesday was also the first day for Sheena's new job as at the afterschool program "Cub Club" with Wonderland Daycare.  Rebecca heads there after school while Abby is at preschool for the day.  A week later now, we're getting into the routines of school days, lunches, pickups at the driveway and Dad's retreival of kids in the late afternoons. The drive home usually has stories of each of their days at 'big' school and little school (daycare).  Rebecca says she has been learning this week about the letters in her name, music, gym class games and the 'science of the number three.'  Sheena and I were puzzled by that, but when we asked about it, she said, "When one and two go together, it makes three!"  Cute.  On the way home, the girls  also look forward to Fridays, because that means a little popcicle stop at the local store, homemade 'Pizza Fridays' for supper and sometimes even Wii Mario!

Today, we managed to get a good picture of Rebecca heading off on the school bus.  In the afternoon, they're heading on a little field trip to a local orchard.  There should be lots of stories after school today!

  1. What an adventuresome week!! So much happening with such a wonderful family, Love the pics! Wait until next year when Abigail gets to go on the school bus to big school. She’ll have her big sister there to help her out. I can see her being so kind to Abigail.
