WHITE, John Robert – 86, South West Mabou, passed away on August 20, 2007,
in Inverness
Consolidated Memorial Hospital in Inverness surrounded by his family. Born February 2, 1921, he was a son of Angus and Mary (MacEachen) White. He was retired from Martell’s Construction where he was paving plant operator. On October 21, 1967, he became our father when he married our mother, Mary Elizabeth (MacEachen) Beaton. He is survived by his wife, Mary Elizabeth, and their family, Jeanette (Albert) MacDonald, Port Hood; John (Marion Walker) Beaton, South West Mabou; Anna Marie (John) Langley, Port Hawkesbury; Mary Catherine (Lawrence) MacDonald, Brook Village; Stanley (Margie MacDonald) Beaton, South West Mabou; Claire (Gerard) Beaton, South West Mabou; Finley (Josie MacDonald) Beaton, Westville; Martha (A.J.) Rankin, South West Mabou; John Robert and Mary Elizabeth added another member to the family, Marie (Legge) Cooke, Sydney. He was also "Papa" to Jacqueline (Jeffery) Bertram (son Dylan), David (Paula) Lefort (children Mykaela and Alexander), Lisa (Anthony) Beaton, Denise (Adam) Godfrey, Stephanie (John) Snider, Shauna (Marc Robinson) Beaton, Iain (Susan) Langley (daughter Olivia), Gordon (Sherry) Langley (son Brien), Elizabeth (Bob) Langdon (son Colin), David (Sheena) MacDonald (daughter Rebecca), Laurena MacDonald, Catriona (Kevin) Beaton, Mairead, Christina and Eilidh Beaton, Brennan (Sandra) Beaton, Andrew (Lindsay) Beaton, Kyle and Erin Beaton, Jennifer (Mark O’Brien) Beaton (their son Keaton and daughter Kelsey), Michael Beaton, Allan, Natasha (fiancé Brian) and Brianna Rankin, Amanda (Chris) Gilfoy (their children Emma and Dylan), and Amy Cooke, (son Morgan), Antigonish. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews who were an important part of his life. He was predeceased by his parents, his brothers, Johnnie (Sarah MacDonald) and Donald Thomas; his sisters, Dorothy (Newton) Bezanson, and Mary Ann (Bill) McNeil, and great-grandchild, Jacob Godfrey. His remains will rest in St. Mary’s Funeral Home, Mabou, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today and 12-1:30 p.m. on Thursday, with funeral to follow at 2 p.m. in St. Mary’s Church, Mabou, with Father Angus Morris, PP officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery. Family flowers only. Memorial donations in John Robert’s memory may be made to St. Mary’s Cemetery. Funeral under direction of Inverness Funeral Home.

Dave, I’m so sorry to hear about your Grandfather. I was looking at the photo of him with Rebecca – you must be grateful that he was able to meet your baby girl.

Sad news, indeed, yet he lived a long a full life, so you should be thankful for the memories of times spent with him.
