8 years at the Brook Village Grocery

Dsc02776We learned today that Mr. Lawrence MacDonald (David’s Dad) has been the president, owner, operator, cashier, accountant, store clerk, cleaner and warehouse person of the Brook Village Grocery (BVG) for eight years now.  Talk about multitasking… Time flies when you’re having fun!

Stop in and say hi to him for us!

If passing through Inverness County, Cape Breton — the BVG is located between Mabou and Whycocomagh on Hwy 252.

  1. Amoung the many duties Mr. Lawrence MacDonald does, he also hosts the best annual staff Christmas parties at The Mull for the manager and the part time help (this year 4 attended).

  2. I remember the Brook Village Grocery! It was back in the summer of ’03 that my mother and I, along with my cousin from the U.S., were driving through Mabou and I happened to see the store! Amazing your dad does all that, and for eight years as well!

  3. Well what would we do without Brook Village grocery in good old Brook Village. I really don’t know how the place could exist without a store; post office; help desk; warm place to have a cup of tea on a winter day; trouble shooter; message carrier; babysitter; computer whiz; fax me this please; never ending tea pot; nice place to chat; great place for a joke; lost and found; need directions; great place to stop in for help…never ending I must say. Congratulations Lawrence you made the big 8.

  4. To our extended family in B.V.,
Our first visit to Brook Village was during Thanksgiving weekend,2002. Our daughter invited us to this quaint spot on the map in order to meet some people, who would soon become a very important part of her life. We found a warm and friendly welcome from the owner/multitasker and his lovely wife, at the local General store, aka, Brook Village Grocery. Since then our children have joined us through their marriage as family members. We are pleased to be among the many well wishers to commemorate such a special time in Lawrence’s life. Congratulations on services well performed, may you enjoy many more years at the BVG.
all our best, Janice and Reg(the N.B.folks)
